A Foundation Worth Getting Right
Early in my career, I learned a lesson that has shaped every invention since: innovation starts with understanding the problem or recognizing a problem that others have not yet seen and asking why it has remained unsolved.
The real work is not the flash of inspiration. It is the discipline of researching deeply, studying the prior art, questioning every assumption, and refining an idea through multiple iterations. While developing a solution, I continuously rank alternative concepts by their technical impact and economic value. The most important question is always: Why has nobody else solved this before? If you can answer that convincingly, you have the foundation of a meaningful innovation.
One advantage I had was entering technical fields that I had never formally studied. Without being constrained by established thinking, I could often approach problems from a different perspective. At the same time, demanding mentors including my father, my mathematics teacher, and my PhD supervisor taught me to be relentlessly critical of my own ideas. I learned to ask myself repeatedly: Is this really innovative? Is it good enough? Can it be improved further?
Many innovators stop too early. They find the first workable solution and move on. In my experience, innovation is an iterative process that never really ends. A first patent is often just the beginning.
To help others adopt this way of thinking and foster innovation, ipgate has developed an AI-supported innovation tool. It is not a patent attorney and not a replacement for one. Instead, it guides the most important conversation: the one you have with yourself while developing an invention.
In about fifteen minutes, running entirely on your own machine with your own API key, the tool helps you evaluate your invention across eight key dimensions, identifies remaining gaps, and generates a structured invention disclosure in your own words. Your ideas remain completely private; we never see your invention.
We built this tool because we wished it had existed when we started our own innovation journey. Now it does.
How it works
Register and receive the tool. Tell us who you are, and we'll email you a one-time download link. The tool is a single self-contained file (~280 KB) that runs in any browser, offline.
Add your own API key. Obtain an Anthropic API key from console.anthropic.com. Your key stays in your browser; IPGATE never sees it.
Describe your invention, discuss it for 5–10 minutes, and receive your report. A candid strength score across eight dimensions, the specific gaps to close, a draft disclosure summary in your own words, and a disclosure-timing risk flag, all saved as a PDF.
Privacy by structure, not by promise
The tool runs locally in your browser. Your invention text passes only between your browser and Anthropic, authenticated with your own API key. No IPGATE server sits anywhere in that path, so we never receive your invention text and have nothing to store.
For trade-secret values, you can substitute placeholders such as [material X] or [parameter Y]. The assessment evaluates the structure of your disclosure rather than the underlying figures, so your score is unaffected.
